Stop Losing Fragile Inventory to Bad Packaging
If your whole FBA shipment got flagged due to a few broken items, you know how costly “close enough” packaging can be. A single fragile item without full coverage can cause a hold. This hold makes your entire shipment unsellable until it’s fixed, not just the broken item.
3PL USA includes fragile prep in your fulfillment workflow. We wrap glass, ceramics, electronics, and other fragile items carefully before they leave our facility.

The Bubble Wrapping Mistakes That Get Shipments Rejected
Most fragile prep failures come down to the same handful of shortcuts.
Partial Coverage, Not Full Enclosure
Amazon needs the whole item fully enclosed. If even one corner is uncovered, it will fail. Our approach: We wrap every fragile unit completely. There are no exposed surfaces. We tape each unit securely, so nothing can shift or slide out.
Using Banned Cushioning Materials
Amazon doesn’t allow packing peanuts, shredded paper, or loose crinkle wrap. These materials compress over time, so they lose their protective value. Our approach: We use only approved materials for every fragile shipment. These include bubble wrap, air pillows, and foam sheets.
Skipping the Drop Test
Packaging may seem secure, but it can still fail Amazon’s drop test. You won’t know until the item arrives broken. Our approach: Each fragile package undergoes testing against Amazon’s 3-foot, five-drop standard. It covers the base, top, longest side, shortest side, and corner before shipping.

How Our Fragile Prep Process Works
From arrival to final dispatch, our multi-stage fragile prep workflow ensures every delicate unit is inspected, fully wrapped, tested, and labeled to survive transit and meet strict marketplace guidelines.
Inbound Receiving & Inspection
Staff checks fragile inventory for damage upon arrival. This way, we avoid wrapping a problem that’s already there.
Sort by Fragility Level
Sort items by material and fragility. This way, glass, ceramics, and electronics get the protection they need.
Full Enclosure Wrapping
Each unit gets at least two layers of bubble wrap. They tape it securely, so no part of the product is exposed.
Drop Test Verification
Wrapped items must pass Amazon’s 3-foot, five-drop standard. They are checked, not assumed to pass.
Label & Forward
Place scannable barcodes on the wrap’s outside. Apply fragile labels. Then, send units to carton prep or direct shipment.
What We Wrap
Fragile products must have special care. We change the wrapping thickness and method for each item. This way, we avoid a one-size-fits-all approach.
Glass & Ceramics
Mugs, vases, jars, and glassware requiring full-enclosure, multi-layer wrapping.
Home Décor
Frames, mirrors, and clocks need strong corner protection and cushioning.
Electronics & Accessories
Items requiring cushioning and protection against static or impact damage.
Liquids in Glass Containers
Double-sealed and bubble-wrapped to prevent both breakage and leaks.
Collectibles & Premium Items
Extra care for higher-value, harder-to-replace products.
Custom Item Requirements
Let us know if your product doesn’t fit into a category. Fragile prep focuses on what you’re shipping, not a generic checklist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Amazon’s fragile packaging rules, approved cushioning materials, drop tests, and FBA prep workflows.
Will Amazon bubble wrap my fragile items for me?
No, Amazon doesn’t bubble wrap items for you unless you ask and pay for its prep service. To protect fragile items before shipping to Amazon, sellers should either prep them on their own or use a 3PL.
What counts as a “fragile” item under Amazon’s rules?
Anything that you can break, crack, leak, or damage during normal handling counts. Some items may seem sturdy, but heavier boxes can crush them if stacked on top during storage.
What materials does Amazon allow for cushioning?
Bubble wrap, air pillows, and full foam sheets are accepted. Packing peanuts, shredded paper, crinkle wrap, and loose foam are not.
What happens if a fragile item isn’t wrapped properly?
It can trigger a hold on the shipment in Amazon’s “problem solve” workflow. This makes the whole shipment unsellable until the issue is fixed, not just the item in question.
Can we combine bubble wrapping with FNSKU labeling and other prep?
Yes, fragile prep is part of the same FBA prep workflow. It includes labeling, poly bagging, and carton preparation.
